Shining a Spotlight on Life’s Beginning, Middle and End

Shaare Zion always has an open hand to provide guidance and support through the various cycles of life. We walk beside you down the twisting, turning roads that bring you great joy and laughter as well as the detours that lead to sorrow and loss.

We provide a sense of belonging, a place of comfort, spirituality and inclusiveness.

We respect and comprehend that everyone’s journey is multi-faceted.

You may feel lost or alienated. You may be seeking more meaning in your daily life.

You may have a son or daughter who is a few years away from their B’nai Mitzvah and is seeking something new and exciting. We welcome them to our B’nai Mitzvah Club, a place where they can express themselves creatively, build a sense of Jewish identity and make new friends.

You may be a first-time parent or grandparent, wishing to usher in the next generation and a newly formed extended family, with a strong Jewish Identity.

We always look forward to sharing life’s celebrations with our members. We also invite those considering joining the synagogue, to experience any single event as an introduction to our warm and inviting environment.

You may have found your soulmate, your true love, and be ready to begin the rest of your life with them. You may be a same sex couple. You may be getting married for the second time. You may be renewing your vows. Love comes in many shapes and forms and we look forward to guiding you toward a bright and fruitful future.

We understand that couples have different levels of budget, creativity and desire to be on-trend. So, we go all out to provide you with an amazing experience.

You may be caring for an aging parent and while going to synagogue may be a natural occurrence for them, it may not be so for you.

This dynamic often creates a ripe opportunity for intergenerational family members to become more involved in our synagogue.

There are moments in life that do not call for celebration. We are here for you as you struggle to come to terms with the loss of a loved one. We stand alongside of you, in prayer and in spirit.

The loss of a loved one is overwhelming on so many levels. Having a place to honour them, to mourn, to seek pastoral support, to acknowledge a life well lived, is exactly what Shaare Zion represents. We have guided families through this painstaking process for almost 100 years. We provide a place of prayer, 365 days a year, twice daily.

Our clergy are compassionate individuals, ready to listen, ready to provide you with a source of comfort and support. We recognize that having someone as an objective source to confide in, and who is present in every sense, is integral to the healing process.

Judaism shines a spotlight on all the moments that make up a life and we are here to walk each pathway with you.
